Rolex and Newbie

For those unfamiliar with my farm life routine, Rolex is a gray and white donkey, Newbie is the name Shawn and I came up with for the new unnamed horse on the farm.

The farmer took the two other horses on some great expedition this morning, leaving Newbie alone in the field. Even Rolex, who she often partners with, was stuck on the other side with the cows. She was upset, running around, while Rolex watched her occasionally braying in sympathy.

I stepped outside to join Shawn and they both perked up. I have a stash of corn I keep for sneaking them a treat. I took Rolex his bowl first and Jethro, the mighty and loyal dog, went to keep Newbie company. When I brought her the bowl of corn she took her time scattering it to the ground as if relishing my company.

Anyone who thinks horses aren’t social has never seen one left alone while her friends got to go somewhere.
