Self-Knowledge and Purpose

As you read the NewEarth Series, you realize that the dragons spend a lot of time gaining self-knowledge. This consist of what they are good at, what they enjoy, discovering and developing skills. Finding out what they do not like, what they avoid, what makes their stomach quake with dread. Learning what motivates them, what do they believe, what do they appreciate, and what traits they wish to foster in themselves as well as what do they hope to see in their friends. The list is endless and it is an ongoing endeavor as they age, mature, mate, raise offspring, contribute to clans, grow old, and eventually rejoin the planet. Each life is devoted to self-knowledge as well as purpose.

Purpose is determining what use one has for the skills and self-knowledge one has fostered within oneself. In simpler terms, what they are planning to do. It is goal setting in a different way. If their purpose is decided to be to foster many territory youths and teach them self-knowledge, that explains why they established a nest and it is always filled with youths, learning and discovering their own skills. If their purpose is to defend the planet, they become a fierce fighter, practicing and learning skills to defend the planet from any and all enemies, including a twisted mind. They also find a territory devoted to that purpose.

Grabon’s Territory is devoted to the purpose of avoiding a species conflict on the planet between the humans and dragons. All of the clan members must buy into that purpose, or they could never be accepted. In addition, Grabon and Heron have other criteria that nobody seems to understand. Can you guess what those criteria may be?
