It Rained

All day yesterday we had little spits of water. The birdbath is full, the ground a bit soggy, we even still have a small puddle or two. Best of all, some of the burnt brown is giving way to green shoots. Some of the bushes that still have leaves are looking perkier, not so shriveled and dying. Maybe life will return to the yard before autumn sets in.

Some of the areas around us were predicting flash flooding. With the ground so hardpacked and dry, it is not hard to see how that could happen with even small amounts of rain. I am usually grateful for whatever we have, but a slow trickle of water was just what we needed.
