If you haven’t read book 4, you might want to skip this post. For those that have, you might be interested. Golly has developmental delays, he also has a genetic disorder known as Giantism, sometimes called by other names, it really is when the growth hormones cause a body to keep growing past what the organs can support. Thankfully with our technology and medicine here on OldEarth it is treatable in most cases and no longer results in an early death.

As it turns out, he is one of my favorite characters and by the time I realized they had no way to heal heal him, he was already integrated into the story. I lost count of the number of tissues I went through writing book 4, but if you cried over his character, don’t feel bad, so did I.
