Watching Cows
As I am sure I have mentioned before, we spend a lot of time watching cows. Did you know they set up nursery coverage within a herd? They set four to five mommas to watch the babies while everyone else goes off to graze. Those cows on nursery duty, and it changes every day, slowly parade the babies from place to place, exploring their pasture, supervise naps etc. and generally watch out for the youngsters. Occasionally the nursery comes parading by the gate and I can imagine the discussion. “If the Farmer happens to leave this open, the grass on the other side is amazing. Do not hesitate, just push through and give it a taste, because they chase you back as soon as they notice. Those nasty humans keep all the best grass for themselves.”
